(Note: I have participated in this event 3 times and it has always been a great day ..... especially after a night of bar hopping and dancing in pajamas ... I'll have to find some of those pictures)What: This will be the revival of a Grove tradition after a six year snooze, the return of the Coconut Grove Bed Race, a free community event and fundraiser that proves that a community can come together, have fun and raise funds for the University of Miami and this years’ community based charity; the Alonzo Mourning Charities.
The race involves rolling beds down two village streets in Coconut Grove with local community, individuals, businesses, organizations, and clubs sponsoring the beds. Teams consist of 5 members, four (4) race and one (1) rides, racing against the clock until the fastest eight (8) beds are determined and go head-to-head racing for the top position. Prizes are awarded for theme, décor, and racing success.
