Was a great, sunny South Florida day. Cliff and Doug had snow in Columbus, Ohio, so I guess it makes up for not having a white Christmas. Nicholas had flurries in Brookfield, Wisconsin, but was happy with the three baskets he received from the Easter Bunny.
Mr. S enjoyed the Chicken Piccata, Fresh Vegetables and Rice Pilaf I made for him on Friday. We spent the evening in watching the History Channel. We had a great, full day on Saturday. It ranged from having a full homemade breakfast, Ice Cream on Lincoln Road, going to the movies, meeting up with friends, doing a little shopping, and going to the Palace to support the Prideline fundraiser. In the quiet time, we did continue "the talk" and we have decided to use the "B" word (boyfriend). It's been 5 weeks, so we are going forward. We do see potential and we are being exclusive.
Sunday, Mr. S came to church with me and my family. The service was in Spanish, but I brought an English Book of Common Prayer and translated when I could. I was a little embarrassed....I forgot to turn off my cell phone and it went off during the service. Second, my Mom lost an ear ring and the priest had to ask the congregation "who lost this ear ring?" Mom was bossy and made him get up when they asked for those who were there for the first time to stand up and be recognized. Of course, everyone was friendly and the service ended with an un-traditional Christian salsa song.
To continue the day, we stopped at Sedano's Supermarket to pick up some last minute items, then went to the house and had a great family lunch. Dr. and Mrs O'Neill (Cliff's parents), Alexandra, Poneh, Mom and Sis were there. I know he was a little nervous, but he was a hit and I'm glad that he was included in everything (sis and mom put him to work). Everyone did some part in preparing the meal or setting the table. Mr. S made a bread pudding with a whiskey sauce that was spectacular! It flew!
My sis took the liberty of bringing out the old photo albums, so Poneh and Mr. S had a laugh seeing my many looks from childhood to present. The consensus was that I not grow back my facial hair.... It was so nice to share the family memories and history. I am very proud that my house is always an open and welcoming place for everyone.
Poneh drove her little Yaris. Very cute. She is very happy to be more mobile.
Sis and I took Mr. S home, but the day did not end there. When we got back, Cristina and Stephanie were there. We ate again. Then my Mom's god daughter and her "husband" showed up with 2 out of 4 kids (Jeffrey Luis and Jesus). We watched 'The Sound of Music" and played with the variety of percussion instruments that we have in a basket in the living room (maracas, palo, guiro, tambourines, bells). They had their fill of chocolate and cake and were happy with the stuffed animals they received (chick with bunny ears). (All kids received the same thing in different colors.)
All in all, it was a full and very pleasant weekend. I am soooooo happy that everyone liked Mr. S. and that he had a good time. Mom told him to come back ... I know he will be. Next up on our meeting family and friends is my meeting Nancy, Mr S's best friend from Boston. She will be here at the end of the month.
To end, when I told Mr. S. that I was very glad that he came over to my house, he said " You don't have a house, you have a home..." I smiled and almost got a tear..... Not everyone is so fortunate, so if you are, please open up to those who do not ....
Peace.

A "Christian salsa song". I should have guessed.
